Our Government is attracting world class events to give Victoria the edge, and this latest research shows our strategy is working , World class major events, an enviable cafe culture and peerless retail centres make Melbourne and Victoria the liveability capital of Australia . Our Government is focused on taking decisive action on threats to Victoria's lifestyle and liveability, such as managing population growth, addressing climate change, securing our water supplies and continuing to invest record resources in services like our hospitals and schools." John Brumby was delusional as when he was opposition leader and dumped. With no Opposition he has a good chance to be re-elected. He has plenty of tax dollars to spend, plenty of Union funds to campaign with. These are exciting times in Victoria you wouldnt want to be anywhere else," Mr Brumby said

A koala, who turned out to be female, became the most famous koala in the world when firefighter David Tree stopped to give her a drink amid the devastation. Mr Tree said he was surprised by the reaction to the photograph, which was snapped by a fellow CFA volunteer on a mobile phone. He said he was in the middle of backburning at Mirboo North when he saw the stricken koala. "I could see she had sore feet and was in trouble, so I pulled over the fire truck. She just plonked herself down, as if to say 'I'm beat'," he said. "I offered her a drink and she drank three bottles. "The most amazing part was when she grabbed my hand. I will never forget that." She has been recovering in Mountain Ash Wildlife Shelter.Carer Jenny Shaw said she suffered burns on her paws and was in a lot of pain, but was on the road to recovery! *** Edit: Sam did not made it in the end. Thousands of firefighters and hundreds of volunteers are battling wildfires in southeastern Australia. In the state of Victoria, dozens have been killed and at least 100 homes destroyed in the blazes. People are busy trying to protect their homes and to avoid the heat, as the temperature reaches record levels. Al Jazeera's Jayne Azzopardi reports.

RTL 1 (Road Transferable Locomotive) was used twice in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. First in 1998 to haul some grain hoppers from Wurruk (just west of Sale) across Thomson River into Sale yard. This was for a drought relief train (flood relief by the time it arrived) and the use of RTL 1 appeared to be purely for the TV cameras. In November 1999, RTL 1 began to haul log trains between Sale and Hillside on the disused Sale - Bairnsdale line. Hauling between 4 and 15 wagons, it ran several trips a day (some by road in one direction) and the wagons were consolidated into a single train at Sale, hauled by conventional locomotives to Geelong. RTL 1 had been used due to the poor condition of the Avon River bridge at Stratford and was the only locomotive light enough to cross the bridge. The bridge was then strengthened and by the end of January 2000, T class and lighter were able to cross the bridge. The RTL operations on the line ended at that time. Uploaded in low-res to improve uploading time. Part two "coming soon".

The debate is endless as to which is the better of all Cities in Australia. Let it be known, I love all of Australia and though I may be a little biased when it comes to Melbourne, there is no denying, when a Nation's event is called for, it's Melbourne that the world turns to and flocks to. I didn't add this to the video, but movies such as "Ghost Rider", "Charlottles Web", "Salems Lot", "Mad Max" and "The Castle" were filmed in Melbourne. And the movie that starred the young Russell Crowe - Romper Stomper was also filmed here. I love Melbourne, I love Victoria, but most of all, I love Australia!
