Vince Fumo was sentenced in July 2009 to 4 years and 7 months in prison. He was convicted by a jury of misusing his state legislative office to steer money to a non-profit he started.
In July 2009, one of Pennslyvania's most power influential power brokers was sentenced to federal prison. The sentence the judge handed down was far below what the public expected. This audio segment allows the public to hear the judge explain his reasoning.
In a dramatic moment, the federal prosecutors at a sentencing hearing for a major Pennsylvania power broker ask the judge for time to make one last point. The judge allows it and federal prosecutor Robert Zauzmer tries to counter the defense teams strong presentation of witnesses who asked for the judge to go easy on former state Senator Vince Fumo. The hearing was held on July 14, 2009 in US District Court in Philadelphia.
