The tortured and poetic life of Vincent van Gogh and his brother Theo's unconditional love and support prove to be an incredible journey through their short and tragic lives. I attended a Train concert on 3-25-10 in Pittsburgh and was moved by "Drops of Jupiter" to the point I felt compelled to use it as the music framework for the story line for my Enduring Ideas in Art Education class. I hope you enjoy it. God Bless, Fred Carrow fredcarrow.com

Arles - Vincent Van Gogh's Home maps.secondlife.com Based on the Town of Arles in France where Van Gogh lived and painted for a time, here you can explore several of the settings that prompted him to put brush to canvas. including The Bedroom, Langlois Bridge, Asylum & Garden, and Daudet's Windmill. Watch The World www.youtube.com Watch the World(s). A Second Life Machinima by Robbie Dingo. (Duration 4'17") "Frameless heads on nameless walls, with eyes that watch the world and can't forget - like the strangers that you've met". [Don McLean]. Ever looked at your favorite painting and wished you could wander inside, to look at it from different perspectives? Spend a single day in one of mine, from early sunrise on a new day, to dusk when lights come on in cosy homes; through a peaceful night, till morning. Shot on location in Second Life then post-produced, this was an idea I had a while ago. The Sim in this work was on temporary loan so it's all been swept away now, leaving only the film behind. It was always intended however that the video would be the end product, not the build. This work is dedicated to the many weird and very wonderful strangers from around the globe I have met, but have never really met.

Personal tribute by JACOMO to one of the greatest painters in Arts History: VINCENT VAN GOGH Music Starry, Starry Night by JOSH GROBAN
There are so many aspects of Vincent's work which I like. I can't include everything due to space... One of the common themes I like which runs through Vincent's work all throughout his career is his sympaphy for the poor. Vincent himself was from a well to do middle class family but he didn't look down on the poor like many rich people did Vincent felt a great deal of sympaphy for the conditions that peasants and labourers found themselves in, he saw them as victims of cruel circumstances ...

Vincent Willem van Gogh (30 March 1853 29 July 1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist artist, a predecessor of Expressionism, whose revolutionary paintings had an enormous influence on 20th century art. Many of his paintings—including his numerous self portraits, landscapes, portraits and sunflowers—are among the world's most revered, recognizable and expensive works of art. Little appreciated during his lifetime, his reputation vastly increased in the years after his death. He is today regarded as one of history's greatest artists, and an important contributor to the foundations of modern art. A central figure in his life was his younger brother Theo, an art dealer who continually and selflessly provided financial and emotional support to the troubled artist. Their lifelong friendship, and most of what is known of Vincent's thoughts and theories of art, is recorded in the hundreds of letters they began exchanging from August 1872. Van Gogh was anxious and unsettled for most of his life. He spent his early adulthood working for a firm of art dealers in The Hague, London and Paris, after which he taught in England. An early vocation was to become a pastor and preach the gospel, and he later worked as a missionary in a poor mining region in Belgium. In 1879, he began to sketch people from the local Belgian community and scenes from ordinary life. In 1880, he undertook formal art classes, and studied anatomy, still-life and landscape. He began to paint in 1882 with the ...

Vincent Van Gogh The Four Seasons For myself, I can hardly decide which season I like best. I believe I like them all equally. Now he who has eyes to see it finds something beautiful and good in every kind of weather, he finds the snow and the burning sun beautiful, the storm and the calm, the cold and the heat, he loves every season and cannot spare one day of the year, and in his heart he is contented and resigned to things being as they are. Winter is the snow with black silhouettes. Spring is tender, green young corn and pink apple blossoms. Summer is the opposition of blues against an element of orange, in the gold bronze of the corn. Autumn is the contrast of the yellow leaves against violet tones. And it is a good thing in winter to be deep in the snow, in spring amid the grass. in summer among the ripe corn, in the autumn deep in the yellow leaves. Vincent. A special thanks to David Brooks Who has spent many years painstakingly reproducing all of Vincent's works into digital for everyone to enjoy online. www.vggallery.com

(1853-1890) Vincent van Gogh was born near Brabant, the son of a minister. In 1869, he got a position at the art dealers, Goupil and Co. in The Hague, through his uncle, and worked with them until he was dismissed from the London office in 1873. He worked as a schoolmaster in England (1876), before training for the ministry at Amsterdam University (1877). After he failed to get a post in the Church, he went to live as an independent missionary among the Borinage miners. He was largely self ...
