The Square was transformed into a blaze of pink on Friday September 10 as people gathered to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care and raise awareness of the disease. Sally Taylor from BBC South Today made a special guest appearance to support the event, as Strawberry Tea was served by Gourmet Pizza, Cafe Monde, Slug and Lettuce, La Place, The Eclipse Inn, The Old Vine and Cadogan and James Deli. Members of the Winchester Breast Cancer Support Group were on hand to help raise awareness of their group and a locally-based newly formed string quartet played to add to the atmosphere. In this clip, take in some of the magical atmosphere, and see Steve discuss the event with Joan Sherrin, from the Winchester Breast Cancer Support Group. Speaking afterwards, Steve Brine said: "I am just blown away by how much everyone has risen to the challenge. The businesses have been brilliant and I am hugely grateful to them for such stoical support. "I would also pay tribute to Janette Munro Ford from my office who did so much to make today such a huge success. "In spite of all the work in recent years we still lose 12000 women a year to breast cancer and that is heartbreaking. We have to do better and the battle now in my opinion must focus on the threat posed by secondary breast cancer, screening for older women and access to increasingly expensive cancer drugs. We must never let up also on the early screening where such progress has been made in recent years."
