This is a short movie project development by the Interest Group students in the 3D Animation Lab at the Yio Chu Kang Secondary School. The project attempts to not only demonstrate existing technical competencies in the school in animation but also relates a story that puts in question issues pertaining to use/misuse/abuse/overuse of the Internet. Since the project also asserts the rudimentary principles of 'right' and 'wrong', it has significant philosophical content of reflection. Wow, it's finally released! It's our last single this year! "ToyZ" is a song by Cinema Bizarre who we are big fans of! We recorded the song on December 28 and we shot the video the same day. Then, Miguel came back to the studio to record some vocals again and we started working on the video again. We think it's really good and it shows the direction we want to follow in 2010 and; it is the concept of virtuality that we want. With our first effort, "I Can't Wait", we were introducing ourselves. With "Have Yourself A Very Merry Christmas", it was simply us. And now, with "ToyZ", it's not only us, it's more and we honestly can't describe how. Research Project at the Institute for Neural Computation, University of California San Diego (Poizner Lab) By combining motion capture and high density electroencephalographic recordings (EEG), our goal is to identify cognitive processes underlying natural exploration, movement and spatial navigation/orientation in virtual space. The subject actively explores the virtual reality provided by a head-mounted display (HMD) with a total of 12 monitors. This allows for a highly immersive experience. WorldViz, Inc.'s Vizard software platform was used to create the virtual environment and control the subject's interactions with that environment. The subject's skeleton was mapped to that of the computer avatar using Motion Builder, which computed the inverse kinematics of the subject's movement, passed the inverse kinematics to Vizard which then rendered the animated character in the virtual environment. Sensics, Inc. xSight panoramic head-mounted display was used for immersive display of the virtual environment. A 24 camera PhaseSpace, Inc. Impulse system was used to monitor the subject's movement in 3D. Movements of the limbs, head, and body were recorded at 240Hz. A WorldViz's Intersense inertial sensor was mounted on the head-mounted display to record head orientation at 180Hz. EEG was registered from a 64-channel array (active electrode system), although future recordings will include a total of 256 channels. The difference to the normal (Recoil-less) SU3000 machines is that the rifle is a replica of an actual Winchester Shotgun (Used under license of Winchester) which features a Co2 powered blowback mechanism for additional immersion.
