Hurricane Alex - Cat 2 June, 30th 2010. At landfull wind speed was 105 mph and the pressure was 947 mb. The hurricane was a category 2, but its pressure resembled a cat 3 almost a cat 4! This tropical storm was massive! It extended hundreds of miles, and sadly played a part in dispersing the oil more. This hurricane made landfall south of Texas into Mexico heading west on June 30th, 2010 at 9 pm CDT. This is a compilation video like a documentary to record Hurricane Alex in history with raw hurricane footage. Music is by Anderson Cale Check them out here: www.myspace.com A thanks to NOAA, Weather Channel, and Weather Underground for the graphical images.

WFS surface trajectories forecast model for the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill "Winds will shift to offshore out of the north or northeast Tuesday and Wednesday, due to counter-clockwise flow of air... a significant amount of oil could get pumped into the Loop Current late next week." "The counter-clockwise flow of air around this low will probably lead to offshore winds over the oil spill region Tuesday through Wednesday, keeping oil away from the coasts of Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, but pushing oil southwards towards the Loop Current." - Dr. Jeff Masters, Weather Underground: www.wunderground.com
Every year, I look forward to producing these incredible animations for all my friends at WeatherUnderground.com, but never more so than this year! Produced in spectacular HD for the first time, other firsts include a new animation of Hurricane Alley and new imagery of the Hurricane Sector that highlights the landmasses not with a drawn line, but with natural lighting. It is truly an amazing sequence of images that will hold you spellbound, even though June 2009 was a quiet month in the tropics. So sit back and enjoy this unique experience of watching the world go by day by day from space as provided by imagery created by the GOES East Satellite!

Wehave selected 100 unique places on Earth that are projected to undergo profound changes within the next few generations. We based our selection of the 100 places on the 4th Assessment Report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Simply by drawing attention to the beauty of these places, 100 Places to Remember Before they Disappear creates an argument to preserve them. The 100 Places we have chosen to highlight, and the people who live in them, are in serious danger because of rising sea levels, rising temperatures and extreme weather events triggered by climate change. Among ambassadors are Joss Stone, Desmund Tutu for more info visit www.100places.com. The Sinking City of Angels Home to hundreds of Buddhist temples and tiny canals, a multitude of street vendors, thousands of skyscrapers, an elevated urban sky train and a brand new airport, Bangkok is a tropical metropolis where the traditional East meets the modernity of the West. Dissected by the Chao Phraya river and built on the soft, loamy soil of its banks and delta, Bangkok, now home to a population of almost 15 million, used to be a minor port and trading centre. In 1782, it became the capital of the independent kingdom of Siam, the official name for Thailand until 1939. The Thai name for Bangkok is Krung Thep, meaning City of Angels. Since US soldiers serving in the Vietnam War began spending their leave in Bangkok in the 1960s, Thailand has developed rapidly as a tourist destination. The ...
