Someone pls tell him "thx but no thx" The Obama administration is considering several steps that would review the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series, the Justice Department said in a letter Friday to a senator who had asked for an antitrust review. In the letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch, obtained by The Associated Press, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote that the Justice Department is reviewing Hatch's request and other materials to determine whether to open an investigation into whether the BCS violates antitrust laws. "Importantly, and in addition, the administration also is exploring other options that might be available to address concerns with the college football postseason," Weich wrote, including asking the Federal Trade Commission to review the legality of the BCS under consumer protection laws. Several lawmakers and many critics want the BCS to switch to a playoff system, rather than the ratings system it uses to determine the teams that play in the championship game. "The administration shares your belief that the current lack of a college football national championship playoff with respect to the highest division of college football ... raises important questions affecting millions of fans, colleges and universities, players and other interested parties," Weich wrote. (AIG) and Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. (LEH) continued to fall in late trading Friday amid concerns about AIG's ability to raise capital and increasing pessimism about major plans both companies are expected to announce in the near term. The cost of credit protection also grew higher for both firms, with AIG's credit-default swaps becoming even weaker than Lehman's. AIG's need for capital comes as billions of dollars in losses from its huge portfolio of securities backed by subprime mortgages appear likely to generate more losses in the third quarter. The company's mortgage insurance and lending businesses also are likely to continue suffering in the current climate. New Chief Executive Robert Willumstad is set to announce a strategic plan later this month, but the markets aren't in a mood to wait. With each day and drop in share price, the insurance titan's options are narrowing. Shares of AIG closed trading down 31% to $12.14 after Thursday's roller-coaster session when the stock fell as much as 21%. Shares are down about 46% this week and, coupled with the rising cost of insuring against default, indicate the market is telling Willumstad he needs to dismantle the firm. In recent late trading AIG shares are down to $11.86. If he fails to act and AIG's stock continues falling, AIG could face a ratings downgrade that would force it to post at least $10 billion more in collateral with counterparties. That could prompt a further capital call. Shareholders feel selling units and simplifying the company's structure could help AIG forestall such an outcome. Meanwhile, investors continue to worry about the fate of Lehman. Its stock closed down 14% to $3.65 after earlier Friday hitting an all-time intraday low of $3.17. Shares skirted the all-time split-adjusted closing low of $3.47 set in December 1994, shortly after the company's initial public offering. In late trading shares are down to $3.45. The stock had a particularly volatile morning amid reports the ailing investment bank has been shopping itself to potential buyers and was in talks to get help from the government. Lehman's stock was up nearly 20% at one point in the premarket session, a day after the brokerage's heaviest trading day yet drove shares down 42%. Shareholders had been anxious for Lehman to confirm reports that it might soon be sold, possibly with U.S. government aid. But as the clock ticked and Lehman failed to announce anything, investors grew increasingly disappointed. In addition, The Wall Street Journal - citing people familiar with the matter - reported Lehman won't get special funding from the government beyond the liquidity facilities it already has in place. The newspaper reported that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke don't see a need to structure a Bear Stearns-like rescue, in large part because Lehman has access to the Fed's discount window and can borrow money to roll over its short term debt. That may affect the likelihood of a deal to sell Lehman, as prospective buyers - which could include Bank of America Corp. (BAC) and Barclays PLC (BCS) - were thought to likely want the U.S. government to help shield them from future losses from any such transaction. In March, when Bear Stearns Cos. was forced into a deal to be acquired by JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM), the federal government agreed to absorb as much as $29 billion in potential losses. AIG's credit-default swaps were recently at 7.64 percentage points, up 14% from Thursday's close and meaning it costs $764,000 to insure $10 million in AIG bonds. Lehman's CDS were recently at 6.95 to 7.25 percentage points; the privately traded contracts had been at 5.35 to 5.65 earlier in the morning. Swaps for Merrill Lynch & Co. (MER) worsened substantially, jumping to 4.52 points from Thursday's close at 3.67. Resolving the mess at Lehman could help stem a wave of pessimism that the U.S. financial system faces the prospect of much deeper turmoil because of bad loans and the weak economy. Financials have been falling all week, though Merrill and Washington Mutual Inc. (WM) posted somewhat smaller declines. Merrill, which saw its shares slide 27% the first four days of the week as peer Lehman's troubles worried investors, closed trading down 12% to $17.05. WaMu closed down 3.5% to $2.73, though it had earlier been down as much as 11% amid volatile trading after the firm late Thursday rushed out some details about its third-quarter results in hopes of ending its stock price's 34% slide this week. OUR MUSIC VIDEOO This is part of our Engage project. The other part is the Cigar Box Guitar Sterling made. Blake made most of the lyrics and filmed and Lizzie and Iris both filmed and edited. We all asked people to be in it and recorded the song together using Mr. Brown's equipment. It's pretty sweet. Starring people in the hallway during 4th hour....a lot of people..... We think we have made success since we have a guitar that works and fills the problem we established. 9. To present our project to the we made this video and told everyone where to go to find it. It has also reached people outside of We analyze the feedback by reading the comments and ratings we recieve. We use it to see if there is anything else we should have done, or if people like what we did. So far, most people have found it very funny. Sterling was here so was Lizzie Iris wasn't here.

Virginia Tech became the ACC champions and played in The Orange Bowl vs Kansas where they came up short 24-21. They finished #3 in the BCS final rankings (#1 in the computer polls) and #9 in the AP polls. Finished 11-3, their 4th straight 10 win season.
