From one of my old VHS tapes. Sept 28, 1993 Phils vs Pirates at Three Rivers Stadium. "Harry the K" calls the final out as the Phillies win their first division win since 1983. Post game Interviews on local Philadelphia Channel 17.
Phillies players, past and present formed a line of pallbearers to lovingly carry their longtime friend and Phillies play-by-play announcer, Harry Kalas, to his final rest. I wound up going by myself. Got there about 9:30. Made my way through the line and found a nice single seat behind first base. Little did I know this was going to unfold right in front of me. You can hear a pin drop until one guy yells out, "We love you, Harry!" And then the place comes unglued. I got sunburned, broke a toe, and pissed off Carol, but I guess it was worth it to be there with anybody else who could make it, and for everybody who wanted to but couldn't. My heartfelt condolences to the Kalas family, the Phillies, the Phil's extended family, and all Phillies fans who, like me, feel as if a piece of ourselves passed forever with the passing of Harry.

Phillies broadcasters Scott Franzke and Larry Anderson pay their respects to the legendary voice of the Phillies, Harry Kalas. Harry the K 1936-2009
This video is a tribute to your 2008 Philadelphia Phillies, last year's World Series Champions!!! Can they do it again? It is also a tribute to the late, great Harry Kalas, who unexpectedly passed away, April 13th, 2009 at the age of 73. Harry was the voice of the Phillies since 1971, and is one of the greatest sportscasters of all time. This song originally aired as part of a podcast I do with a friend of mine, Paul, back in January, called Your Boy's Boys. The episode was titled "The 2009 Celebrity RockBand Championship". Imagine "Harry The K", Regis Philbin, Cheech and Chong, Marv Albert, Merrill Reese, Tom Brokaw, Ben Stein and others competing in the video game RockBand. This was Harry's song in the contest. He should have won! I realize that it may be too soon for some, and it may seem in bad taste, with the bad language and all, but Chase Utley started it! I think (hope) Mr. Kalas would get a kick out of this silly, harmless little tribute. And I hope you enjoy it. ***Do not play it in front of kids. (for obvious reasons)***

Phillies announcer Harry Kalas died Monday; 1976 AL Rookie of the Year Mark Fidrych died Monday; Mets lose Citi Field opener; Orlando Hudson hits for the cycle. (April 14)
Harold Norbert "Harry" Kalas (March 26, 1936 - April 13, 2009) was an American sportscaster, best known for his Frick Award-winning role as lead play-by-play announcer for Major League Baseball's Philadelphia Phillies. For professional football, he served as a voice-over narrator for NFL Films, a regular feature on Inside the NFL and called NFL games for Westwood One radio. While initially meeting with a lukewarm reception due to his replacement of the popular Campbell, Kalas soon won the hearts of Phillies fans with his easy-going style, his mellow, baritone, leathery voice (which rose to great excitement upon great plays on the field or Phillies' home runs, especially in key situations), his love of the game and also his accessibility to Phillies fans, for whom he professed a strong love. On April 8, 2009, five days before he would die in Washington DC, the Phillies honored Kalas by having him throw out the first pitch before a game against the Braves. The first pitch was part of the pre-game ceremony in which the Phillies received their 2008 World Series Championship Rings. Harry you will be missed forever Thanks for the Memories
Quite possibly the greatest call by Harry Kalas, the the Hall Of Fame voice of the Philadelphia Phillies for decades, who passed away on Monday April 13, 2009. Philadelphia may have lost their voice, but that voice will never be forgotten. And this is a call that I will never forget, the call for the 2008 Phillies winning the World Series. Kalas missed the oppurtunity to make this call in 1980 when local broadcasters were not allowed to call the World Series. Thank you, Harry. For everything, forever. You went out a champion.
Harry Kalas was the voice of the Philadelphia Phillies for 39 seasons. Watching baseball will never be the same for the city and its fans. You will be missed. This video was created by comcast sports for the fans.
Philly will never be the same again RIP Harry Kalas "The Voice of the Phillies"
Harry Kalas Died on April 13th, 2009. This video is in honor and tribute to him. God Bless Harry.
Harry Kalas: The Voice Of The Phillies - 1936-2009 (Tribute) This is a tribute to Mr. Harry Kalas, the Voice of the Phillies. I'm not a video editor (and this video may very well show that), nor am I a baseball fan, but I *am* a Harry Kalas fan, and I just wanted to share this with other Kalas fans on this difficult day. This one's for you, Mr. Kalas, and to your many fans. I look forward to meeting you on the other side ~ Ben Whitmire (BenW783a) (PS - Thanks to all my fellow YT users for your kind words, both to Mr. Kalas and myself. I want the text to stay primarily about Harry Kalas, so I decided to just say "thank you" here instead of responding to each individual message. Thanks for watching, posting, and remembering - BenW783a) (PPS - Kudos to Sony Music Entertainment & Reunion Records for realizing the benefits of free advertising via YT, and not asking for this video to be taken down or maimed. I wish others would loosen up and follow suit.)
