Not a musical statement, just me having fun with the MDUW. I took a loop I created and sampled it into the UW, much mangling and fun ensued, along with a few mistakes, but I kinda liked it so here it is :)
Just having some fun with a sample loop, processing it with the MD's filter, sample rate reduction, bit rate reduction, LFO, reverb and delay. Not a musical statement, just a demo of the Machinedrum's sampling facilities.
Having some fun with the UW 12-bit sample engine :) High quality audio available @ soundcloud.com
Lacuna is performed live using: Elektron Machinedrum UW SPS-1 Mk1 ruinwesen Minicommand davesmith Tetra All mixing and sequencing occurs in the machinedrum. Audio from the Machinedrum runs into the KRK Monitors which is then recorded by the cam corder MIC. Sadly, my DAW failed to record the direct output of this track. Quick jam testing out some new modules and the highly liquid MPA. The MD is sending pulses and cv's to the modular via the MPA, modules used:- Bugbrand Syn1, CTL1, PRC3, DD3, ENV1, PRC2 Blacet VCA, EG
I don't know why I forgot about this song.
Keeping hardware alive.... We only use a TB-303, TR-909 and a Machinedrum for this video. No effects. No computers and damn sure no planning. Listen.
A basic overview of the Elektron Machinedrum.
An in depth look at the sequencer of the Elektron Machinedrum
an acid track with x0xb0x and machinedrum UW. note the RAM sampling of the first x0xb0x pattern as it gets layered with a new pattern from the x0xb0x and the reverse edit on the master out, you need a mkii UW for this... no other gadgets used, straight from Machinedrum outputs. for a higher quality listen please go to: soundcloud.com
the MPC plays two patterns, you can hear the original in the beginning, one is the breakbeat the other is the percussion loop. the sound is being fed into the Machinedrum UW and all the variations you hear are done with two RAM machines in the Machinedrum UW, no other sounds or gadgets are being used.

Poor Timmy wanted a TB-303 for Xmas to go with his shiny new Machinedrum, but his mummy could only afford a Gakken SX-150. It looked like Timmy was doomed to playing out of tune stylophone cover versions, instead of the funky fresh acid of his dreams. Then one day whilst getting his acid fix on youtube, Timmy discovered that all was not lost, and that the Gakken may work out after all...... Timmy, you owe me a beer.
More MD and MS10 action, also a bit of Space Echo. A fun jam :) Enjoy! More soon.....
Using the Machinedrum to drive a Korg MS10 1. Set up a GND-IMP machine and a GND-SIN machine, in global setting route each of these to their own output - I used E and F in this example. 2. For the GND-IMP machine set it UP to 0, UVAL to 0, DOWN to 64 and DVAL to 127, set the track level and volume to maximum. This will be your trigger pulse, so connect a lead from the output you assigned this machine to into the MS10 trigger input. (output E in my case) 3. For the GND-SIN set it at maximum ...
A loop with different machines playing different figures. Its a little slow. More of test with no practise. Still, It shows some of the charachter of the elektrons and the monos ability to control other machines. Enjoy.
Hi Folks, Its been a while since my last live session so I thought that I'd better get one up and this time instead of the Roland MC-909 I am using the machinedrum & virus. So here we have a Minimal Techno House live improv using Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1 MK2, Access Virus C, Korg Micro Kontrol, Korg Kaoss Pad 3 and Logic Studio Pro 8. This was recorded in one take and is a little rough around the edges but when considering that I was quite happy with the end result. The Machinedrum is used ...

Here's the incredible sounding Analogue Solutions semi-modular Telemark. It's based on the Oberheim SEM but it definitely has the signature ASol gnarly factor. The Telemark opens the SEMblance model to have patch points, allowing you to integrate it with other synth gear easily. You can process external sounds with the Telemark too. It has a great sounding filter with low, high and an extensive bandpass mode. For his demo we're using the low pass mode only. Sequencing and drum sounds ...
Live 7 chapter 5 (bedroom version) bedroom live extract 2008/10/31. So here's one machinedrum UW and one monomachine mkII, no additional treatment (just the mp3 and youtube compression :/ ) enjoy ! www.virb.com/howdragonsdisappear/ © 2008 how dragons disappear

Another video... This time, we brought out the Elektron Machinedrum UW for the kick and hats. We layered the TB-303 on top of that using the KMS-30 and had a Virus TI providing the second synth riff (via a manually controlled arpeggiator). The female vocal samples are being played live on a Alesis drum pad controller. All of this is controlled through an Akai MPC4000. I was trying to fly in a conga loop from the laptop you see in the background, but since we were not happy with the sync, we ...

Metaphysical Function was the most stunning app in Native Instruments legendary "Electronic Instruments2XT" bundle. This bundle also contains the ultra cool drum sampler named "Krypt" and "Limelight" as well. Unfortunately this bundle is out of sale and discontinued. You can check out the specs here: http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=metaphysicalxt&L=1 I don't know if these tools are working on OS X Leo or Vista. So I'm sticking with my good ol' G5 Powermac to keep them running on Tiger.

Sneak Peak Preview of a track called Detroid that Bacon and I are working on. Green MachineDrum transformation was no easy feat, but with help from Pavel (http://pavel.kirkovsky.com), and after many months of dealing with obtuse factories in China...the green display was provisioned, and matching LEDs installed, along with black faceplate with the "Shagghie" logo (artwork by VictorJohn of Tekfunk Recordings). It turned out so perfect that we are building another one just like it as we speak for my live PA's. Thanks for all of Katy Rokit's support as well, can't do squat without her these days... :) Thanks to Jon of Elektron too, for another great NAMM and for the constant hope of 'something new' just in time for 2010 from the Elektron Elves...I'm sure Dan is going to smile from above! Lastly, a huge thanks to Matrix of MatrixSynth (matrixsynth.blogspot.com) for all his years of ongoing support to the synth community. This one's for you...from Bacon and I.
Here are the basics of turning an old record into derivative rhythmic ambience.
A demonstration showing how to make the Machinedrum loop back and forth through a section of a sample with only one trigger and to increment the sample point forward. Useful for all manner of good times.
Thanks to Nick Wylie for capturing and processing this video of the moment! Proposed to Katy Rokit (Singer, Songwriter, Techno Lover) during my live PA at the Kava Lounge on Dec 12th, 2008, in front of the dancefloor, filled with friends and strangers alike. She said 'YES'!!! Best night of my life, bar none. Thanks to VictorJohn of Tekfunk Recordings, and the Android Cartel, for their support that night...and great sets that followed!
