Tasmanian police have re-interviewed witness Paul Conde over the sighting of a dingy attached to the yacht of murdered Hobart man Bob Chappell in 2009.

This video shows a 2009 Hunter Center Cockipt under sail off of San Diego, CA in about 20kts of wind with full sail area up. The yacht was averaging 8.4 to 9.2kts in these conditions. On September 1st 2009 we departed Gosport, England to deliver the already leg 1 provisioned yachts to the start of The 09/10 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in Hull. The shipping forecast called for high winds for the next 72 hours as the debris of Atlantic hurricane Danny was set pass through. After a 24 hour hold in Brighton, the fleet set out for Hull in a time-trial race. Over the next 36 hours at sea we experienced gale force 10-11 conditions with winds up to 62mph. This video was shot during the 10am-2pm watch. We did not feel the full force of the storm until after midnight. This was the second worse storm the Clipper race had experienced in the 6 global races to date. The race began 9/13 in Hull. I will be back on-board for leg 4 (Australia-Singapore-China) and the final leg 7 (Caribbean-New York-Nova Scotia-Ireland-Rotterdam-Hull, England).
PART ONE: THE MORAL SIDE OF MURDER If you had to choose between (1) killing one person to save the lives of five others and (2) doing nothing even though you knew that five people would die right before your eyes if you did nothing—what would you do? What would be the right thing to do? Thats the hypothetical scenario Professor Michael Sandel uses to launch his course on moral reasoning. After the majority of students votes for killing the one person in order to save the lives of five others, Sandel presents three similar moral conundrums—each one artfully designed to make the decision more difficult. As students stand up to defend their conflicting choices, it becomes clear that the assumptions behind our moral reasoning are often contradictory, and the question of what is right and what is wrong is not always black and white. PART TWO: THE CASE FOR CANNIBALISM Sandel introduces the principles of utilitarian philosopher, Jeremy Bentham, with a famous nineteenth century legal case involving a shipwrecked crew of four. After nineteen days lost at sea, the captain decides to kill the weakest amongst them, the young cabin boy, so that the rest can feed on his blood and body to survive. The case sets up a classroom debate about the moral validity of utilitarianism—and its doctrine that the right thing to do is whatever produces "the greatest good for the greatest number."

The brother of a New Zealand man tortured and killed by the Khmer Rouge on Monday (August 17) had a courtroom confrontation with the man who had him executed, wishing him a similar gruesome fate. Kerry Hamill was 28 when he was captured by the Khmer Rouge after his yacht was blown off course into Cambodian waters in 1978. He and a shipmate were taken to Phnom Penh's notorious S-21 prison. About a dozen Westerners were among the estimated 16-thousand people held there before being put to death in 1975-79. His brother, Rob Hamill, wept as he testified on Monday at the genocide trial of S-21's commander, Kaing Guek Eav, also known as Duch.

Sea trial footage of the Botnia Targa 23.1 outside Poole Harbour. What looked like a flat calm down materialized in to a decent chop, testing the smallest in the Targa range to it's limits. A great ride in rough weather coupled to thrilling handling and a sprightly turn of speed.
