A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to London, United Kingdom by TravelPod blogger Katiephelps titled "Westminster Abbey and London Eye". TravelPod is a company of TripAdvisor™. Katiephelps's travel blog entry: "Westminster Abbey may just be my favorite "tourist site" in London. I toured it last Saturday after taking a "flight" on the London Eye (more on that later). Visitors have to pay a pretty hefty admission price ($23), but it's totally worth it. That price gets visitors an audio guide, many high admissions prices don't include this important tool, and you are able to tour the church using it. The Abbey was swamped with visitors, but it's large enough that visitors can still move about rather freely. We were unable to take pictures, except outside in the cloisters, so I don't have very many to share. Fortunately, you can find tons of pictures on the Abbey online if you're really interested. When I first walked into the Abbey I was struck by it size. I've been in lots of large churches in both England and Italy, but Westminster is huge and has SO much inside of it. The tour took about an hour and a half, and we didn't even see everything. Next, I was struck by the history of the building. Not only does the building have medieval origins, but it has been the location of so many historical events from the coronations of kings and queens to the funeral of Diana. Westminster serves as the final resting place of SO many significant figures in English history ...
