Chicago Stadium - March 12, 1993. MJ looked different this season. He hardly dunked. Hardly even drove the lane! It was all fadeaways. And for me personally, this was the first season I started noticing on breakaways he would just do a basic 'right handed, off-the-left-foot' dunk.. even stopped bothering with the Leaner. It's funny, it's not that he couldn't do it - cos he brought all the dunks back in the 95-96 season (leaners, reverses, double pumps etc) - its just that in the 92-93 season MJ was noticeably tired and (dare I say it?) unexcited! Can't blame him - the previous season was gruelling, the postseason was long and demanding (thank you Knicks!), plus he played in the summer at the Olympics. It really wasnt a surprise that he retired after this season cos he really had achieved everything there was to achieve - and the man was just exhausted! Anyway the point I was gonna make was: this game had one of his few facial dunks of the season (I can't even think of any others - were there any others??) and a rare display of excitement afterwards. Apart from that, it was All-Business-MJ. Wasn't until the 95-96 season that he looked like he was having fun again.

Authorities make an arrest in connection to a weekend murder in Farmington. San Juan County deputies along with Farmington and Bloomfield police arrested 40-year-old Larry Johnson at a home this morning. Two other people at the home were also arrested for helping Johnson, and other unrelated charges. Johnson faces an open count of murder for the death of 34-year-old Ernie Tillerson of Grants. Witnesses say Johnson shot Tillerson after getting into a fight at a party early Saturday morning.
Kobe has what's called an avulsion fracture, of which doctors say 90% heal with no loss of function during the healing process. That stupid avulsion fracture isn't even a real "break". It's not a break at all (in the sense most people think of a break) it's where a small chip of bone gets pulled off by the ligament. They treat them like a soft tissue injury (sprain, bruise etc) But the media likes to play it up like he has a broken finger because it sounds so heroic. Ah for the days when players didn't talk about injuries for fear of showing a weakness. Avulsion fractures commonly happen in basketball, most people call it "jamming their finger on the ball". If you are Kobe and the media around Kobe you make it sound like his finger is hanging off his hand, tape it up (unnecessary) for dramatic effect, and let's talk about how heroic it is for a ball player to play through a jammed finger. tags: 2008 2009 Bruce Blitz thelebronjamesblitz thebruceblitzchannel Michael Jordan Vince Carter Allen Iverson Shaq Kobe Bryant Wilt Chamberlain Magic Johnson Larry Bird Oscar Robertson Hakeem Olajuwon David Robinson Moses Malone Kareem Abdul Jabbar Tim Duncan Bill Russell top 10 20 25 50 100 200 dunks moments clutch winner winners shots fadeaway
