bwone.com twitter.com Now that we have the Sony Internet TV Player unboxing out of the way, its now time to do a quick tour around the hardware of the Sony Internet TV Player.... with Google TV of course! Hardware The unit is built with the usually high quality that Sony is known for and its actually a bit heavier that it looks but that's due to the Blu-Ray player that comes with the unit. The casing is made of all plastic that is white with a black top that looks to be a fingerprint and dust magnet. On the front is what you usually see with anything that has a disc player in it with a slot loading disc loader, power button, eject button, connect button to connect the remote and USB port to plug in devices you want to use with the player to watch media. There is nothing on either of the sides on the player but on the back is where are port fun begins with the IR Blaster port, HDMI in, Digital Out Optical, HDMI Out, LAN, fan exhaust, 3 USB ports and DC in jack for your power. Plenty of ports for modern TVs and HDMI only so no component, composite or S-Video available but why would you want that with HD as the main focus here. Internally the unit is powered by an Intel processor and comes with 8GB of storage inside and Built-in Wi-Fi with wireless N for the highest wireless bandwidth for streaming content and of course the hardware is ran but the Google TV Software inside which we will get to in another video post. Another unique aspect of the Sony Internet TV is the remote ...
So you're interested in Windows Phone 7 - but what phone is going to show it off to its best? We got hands on with the mini-cinema HD7 from HTC to check out one such option.
We now take a look at the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10's hardware. The 4" capacitive touch screen makes navigation through the user interface a breeze. 4" seems to be a very happy medium in terms of screen size-it's not too small and difficult to use and it's not too large and hard to hold. Powered by a 1GHz processor the X10 stays current with its competition and shows little to no slowdown. The X10 comes packed with a 1500mAh battery that Sony claims provides 8-hours of talk time to the user. One nice feature is the 1GB of onboard memory for storing applications downloaded from the Android Market. This is higher than most other Android handsets and ensures plenty of space for all of your favorite apps. The X10 also features an 8-megapixel camera with face detection and flash that takes higher quality pictures than most of the competition. So what are you waiting for? Press play below to get the in-depth facts!

Today I finally got a chance to play with the Nokia N8. I got to use prototype hardware (still labeled C0) running early software (not even pre-release). In short, I'm definitely impressed. But I'm still concerned that the N8 will not be able to compete with iOS and Android devices when it's launched later this summer. Read on for my thoughts... The hardware Let's get one thing out of the way: the hardware is fantastic. There's absolutely no doubt that Nokia knows how to build top-spec phones, and when it wants to, top-quality hardware. The N8, even in prototype form, showcases the best fit, finish, and materials of any Nseries device to date. The device is slim and light yet solid. The body and most buttons/covers are made of machined and anodized aluminum -- only the plastic endcaps look and feel out of place. The glass capacitive OLED display is beautiful and responsive. The features are impressive -- 12 MP HD camera, penta-band 3G (including AWS for T-Mobile USA), WiFi b/g/n, HDMI output, USB On-The-Go! The only N8 available for me to handle was the green one, which is not a particularly flattering color for this phone. The blue version I saw looked more attractive. The software Unfortunately, my time with the software was pretty limited, but what I saw surprised me by being fast and slick. It's clear that the user interface makes extensive use of hardware acceleration and that the user experience is a significant improvement over S60v5. But will Symbian^3 be able to ...

www.newegg.com It's time to share some benchmarks for our new test bed -- and what better way to kick things off than with an Intel Core i7 980X CPU and two Radeon 5870 video cards in Crossfire? Overkill? - probably. Screaming fast? - definitely. While this kind of bleeding-edge CPU & GPU hardware is impractical for most builders, several of the "lesser" components in the rig did stand out - The Corsair 750HX PSU performed admirably and without problems, even with the maxed-out hardware load. - The ThermalTake Frio heatsink/fan kept idle temps around 32 C and load temps at 50-60 C. - Intel's 40GB X25-V SSD is a fantastic performance drive at an affordable price (for a SSD), particularly with two of them in RAID 0 as a boot drive. - Corsair's 800D chassis is remarkably full-featured and provides plenty of room to work. - Credits - Cameraman, Lighting & Sound: Paul Editing & Effects: Lam Music by 1Left -- myspace.com/1left

Legion explains about the Geth, their history, and their motivations in these conversations. Geth Culture: The most remarkable aspect of geth culture is that is may not exist at all. Geth are a network intelligence; a single entity in myriad bodies. They share data with one another, whether discrete facts or "memories": audiovisual recordings of experiences and logs of thought-processes. Any event experienced by one geth is uploaded to the group mind, so that all geth, everywhere, "remember" such an event as if they'd experienced it themselves. No one knows whether geth develop personalities as organic-created AIs do. If an organic-designed AI is transferred into another quantum bluebox, its personality is reset. Most geth programs transfer from one hardware platform to another constantly; if a geth needs to travel to another star, it downloads into a starship body. If it needs to replace a piece of malfunctioning hardware, it downloads into a small body with hands. If geth are reset at transfer, it would make development of individual personalities unlikely. Records of the quarian war suggest the geth have no concept of self-preservation. They do not flinch from gunfire, and do not hesitate to sacrifice themselves if it allows their fellows an advantage. Thousands of mobile platforms were expended assaulting quarian positions, but file-sharing between platforms ensured their memories and experience would not be lost. Geth are therefore immortal; if their hardware is ...
Extreme Drum Hardware Makeover is a new video to show drummers how they can customize their drum sets using Gibraltars endless hardware options for drum customization. The inspiration for the video came from my own experiences. I am constantly building and rebuilding my hardware and rack set ups to explore new solutions for drummers to fit any playing style or any drum kit. I have to admit since I dont perform as much these days, I am now that guy in the basement at night geeking out to discover something new I can do with drum hardware. So, I decided why not share some of the fun and see what we could do to solve someone elses problems. Part 3 of my Hackintosh guide. In this part we take a look at what hardware I used to build a Custom PC with Intel i7 920 for my Hackintosh. A computer that will perform just as good as the entry level Mac Pro (Quad Xeon 2.66GHz). Partslist: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Max 24GB RAM, 6 RAM-slots, 2xGigabit LAN, 10xSATA, 12xUSB2.0, 3xFW400. Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3 Max 16GB RAM, 4 RAM-slots, 1xGigabit LAN, 8xSATA, 10xUSB2.0, 2xFW400. DVD-burner: Sony Optiarc AD-7240S-0B (But most DVD-burners will work just fine). Memory: OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Model OCZ3G1600LV6GK. (Most memory types will work just fine). You can go for a slightly cheaper 1066MHz kit if you don't plan to overclock. CPU: Intel i7 920, 2.66 GHz. Or the new i7 930, 2.8GHz. Only $10 more than the i7 920 on newegg. Casing: Whatever you like, as long as it is ATX-compatible. For Europeans I would like to mention a brand new casing from Fractal. Fractal Design Define R2. I'm actually considering buying one, and use it instead of my Lian Li. :) PSU: Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W (12cm fan) COOLER MASTER Silent Pro 600 (13,5cm fan, modular cabling). Thermaltake TR2 TRX-650M 650W (14cm fan, modular cabling). I'd recommend modular cabling, and the biggest fan. Bigger fan = less noise. And the Thermaltake is extremely cheap. HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" But you choose what you want. Any type will work. Videocard: The Nvidia 9600's are ...
Bryan Bishop and Ben Lipkowitz talk about how to make a civilization seed with SKDB (social knowledge engineering database). The concept is to leverage hackerspaces, fablabs and other groups around the world to shift the burden away from makers to a core group of package maintainers who verify hardware designs and make it easy for makers to do what they love best... which is making, of course! Everything in SKDB has both instructions and CAD files but also easy "outs"-- you probably don't want to make your own screws, so there's a "buy" button next to every "make" button.

We use the Microsoft LifeCam Cinema in 720 HD for our iPhone app reviews, so we thought we'd take a few minutes to review the webcam. In this review we cover the hardware and software of the cam as well as the microphone. In short, this is a great hardware camera. The microphone is about what you'd expect. The software is also what you'd expect, from Microsoft -- it's terrible. That being said, the hardware is still great if you plan to only capture with the Microsoft hardware and tune elsewhere.
This is OSx86 BASICS tutorial, it's meant for absolute beginners who wish to enter the "Hackintosh" world. For advanced info refer to insanelymac(dot)com and OSx86Wiki. There are other ways to install retail OS X on non Apple hardware. This tutorial should be good enough for average tech geek to install OSX on non Apple PC. Please, refer to OSx86 Wiki and other OSx86 forums for additional info and CHECK IF YOUR HARDWARE IS COMPATIBLE with this distro or OSx86 in general in HCL (Hardware Compatibility List). Main components that must be compatible are Motherboard chipset and CPU. You can download additional drivers, but there is no guarantee they exist, especially if you use non common hardware devices. This distro is primarily aimed at custom built desktop PCs, but it does work with laptops and branded PCs if they are compatible, although you have to be lucky to have the right hardware. One more thing I forgot to mention in this video is that you'll need at least 6GB of free HDD space, 1GB of RAM, SSE2 or SSE3 CPU and graphics card that supports openGL 2.0 (ATI x1300 and later, and nvidia 6300 and later, the ATI x1200 and nvidia x100 and x200 chips are not supported and will work only in "graphics safe mode". *ATI x1200 is supported now if you download additional drivers from kexts(dot)com *nVidia 6100, 61xx, 7100 and 71xx are supported now via EFI studio app (similar to OSx86Tools, just add generated EFI string to your boot.plist) This tutorial is made for educational ...

Hey Rodney, Does overclocking your hardware shorten their lifespan? Thanks heaps, -Henry- FACT: Many motherboards have automatic overclocking features and some video cards are pre-overclocked. Also with overclocking software and other tools, it's fairly common these days. I've been doing it as long as I can remember and very few components failed as a direct result of overclocking.

The iPhone 3G S has the same dimensions as the original 3G but weighs in at around one gram more. In fact, cosmetically not much has changed between the 3G S and the 3G. I would have liked to see some more changes to make the devices appear different but the fact that both devices have the same dimensions means that all 3G cases and accessories will work with the 3G S. Google Tech Talk June 5, 2009 ABSTRACT Presented by Eric Arseneau, Sun Microsystems, and Fritjof Engelhardtsen, Telenor. The Java Card™ system is the smallest Java™ platform available, but what can you do with it? This session covers some interesting examples involving the playSIM development kit. playSim is an open-source development kit for prototyping new and creative Java Card 3 technology-based applications without the hardware limitations of today's smart cards. It combines the flexibility of the open Sun SPOT platform with the hard security requirements of SIM-card-based applications. Sun SPOT is used as an execution engine as well as a modular hardware platform to enable connection of different types of sensors and I/O interfaces. See how the presenters combine the flexibility of open-source technologies such as Sun SPOTs and Squawk Virtual Machine with the commercial license aspects of the Java Card 3 platform. Come see how to • Experiment with Java Card 3 in the embedded domain through the I/O capabilities of the Sun SPOT platform • Get started with Java Card 3 Servlets, even without terminal support • Simulate SIM and smart cards with embedded radios • Experiment with Near Field Communication (NFC), using regular radios • Create new machine-to-machine interactions • Add one or two boards to a Sun SPOT and have a ready playSIM kit • Simulate smart cards with gigabytes of memory, using ordinary MiniSD cards playSIM is an open-source hardware/software project; all ...
