Part 1/2 Here: www.youtube.com Cyber Attack Forces Wikileaks to Change Web Address Whistle-blowing website Wikileaks has been forced to change its web address after the company providing its domain name cut off service. EveryDNS.net said it had terminated services because Wikileaks.org had come under massive cyber attacks. But Wikileaks has already reappeared using a Swiss web address. Wikileaks has also used micro-blogging site Twitter to urge its fans to redistribute its "raw" net address so it can be viewed at any time. This numerical internet protocol (IP) address remains live and accessible even when web domains - the normal "www" addresses used to access most sites - are unavailable. Experts say it is likely that Wikileaks has done deals with lots of web hosting companies, although many are likely to back away from dealing with the controversial site in the light of recent web attacks. There is also a published list of mirror sites, which Wikileaks hopes will provide constant access to the site. Some of these sites have simply copied Wikileaks' content and put it on a different web server, while others are using different domain names to point at the original content. The more of these sites there are, the more difficult it will be to shut Wikileaks down, security analyst Paul Mutton told the BBC. Part 2/2 Here: www.youtube.com WikiLeaks Fights to Stay Online After US Company Withdraws Domain Name Everydns.net says attack against leaks site endangered other customers' service -- effectively pushing site off the web The US was today accused of opening up a dramatic new front against WikiLeaks, effectively "killing" its web address just days after Amazon pulled the site from its servers following political pressure. The whistleblowers' website went offline for the third time in a week this morning, in the biggest threat to its online presence yet. Joe Lieberman, chairman of the Senate's committee on homeland security, earlier this week called for any organisation helping sustain WikiLeaks to "immediately terminate" its relationship with them. On Friday morning, WikiLeaks and the cache of secret diplomatic documents that have proved to be a scourge for governments around the world were only accessible through a string of digits known as a DNS address. The site later re-emerged with a Swiss domain, WikiLeaks.ch. Julian Assange this morning said the development is an example of the "privatisation of state censorship" in the US and is a "serious problem." "These attacks will not stop our mission, but should be setting off alarm bells about the rule of law in the United States," he warned. The California-based internet hosting provider that dropped WikiLeaks at 3am GMT on Friday (10PM EST Thursday), Everydns, says it did so to prevent its other 500000 customers of being ...

There has been another deluge of information released on Wikileaks - this time about the war in Iraq. But many of the resulting stories have focused on Julian Assange's character as much as on the contents of the leaked documents. Has the media missed the mark or has the Wikileaks front man become a liability for the organisation? The Listening Post this week looks at how the media has become more interested in the life of one man than the deaths of 109000 Iraqis.

The largest leak of secret US military documents in history is stirring up a storm of reaction. There's outrage in Baghdad, as Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki says it threatens the balance of power in the country. The Iraq war files, published by online Whistle-blower Wikileaks, detail fifteen thousand violent deaths over the past six years - previously unaccounted for. Chris Nineham from the "Stop the War Coalition" says the US occupation of Iraq has turned the country into a ticking time bomb.
25-Oct-2010 Edited highlights of tonight's programme. Dispatches, Channel 4's flagship current affairs strand, exposes the full and unreported horror of the Iraqi conflict and its aftermath, revealing the true scale of civilian casualties; and allegations that after the scandal of Abu Ghraib, American soldiers continued to abuse prisoners; and that US forces did not systematically intervene in the torture and murder of detainees by the Iraqi security services. The programme also features previously unreported material of insurgents being killed while trying to surrender. Channel 4 is the only UK broadcaster to have been given access to nearly 400000 secret military significant activities reports (SIGACTS) logged by the US military in Iraq between 2004 and 2009. These reports tell the story of the war and occupation which the US military did not want the world to know.
The shocking WikiLeaks release, which has revealed thousands of unreported civilian casualties in Iraq, is the most accurate picture of war ever made, and it is food for thought, says the website's editor-in-chief. The report, condemned by the Pentagon, claims that US commanders in Iraq ignored evidence of torture and the murder of civilians. "This material has revealed 15000 previously unreported, undocumented civilian casualties. That's an extraordinary number of people who have never been spoken about before," Julian Assange said. "We also see that the cover up of torture by coalition forces well after Abu Ghraib was a concrete policy, a secret policy: to not intervene with torture conducted by the fledgling Iraqi government," he added. "This is the most accurate description of a war that has ever been released into the historic record. There is nothing comparable. It is the details of the deaths of 109000 people, the wounding of 170000 people, the detaining of nearly 200000 people during a course of six years. Of course, that is only about a half the military action that went on during that period, because it is only the US view on things, but even so we see that there is nearly no street corner in Baghdad that did not have a body found that had been killed through violence in one form or another," he said. "We should start imagining it or stop supporting it. It is not good to support things that you do not understand," he pointed out. "We need to understand what the ...
The official reaction from the Iraqi government to the release of WikiLeaks files about the country has been measured in tone. But many members of the Iraqi public say the leaked documents reflect what they had long suspected was the truth. Rawya Rageh reports from Baghdad.

US commanders in Iraq ignored evidence of torture and often failed to investigate the killing of civilians. These are the major findings from the leak of 400000 secret American military files from the whistleblowing website, WikiLeaks. The data describes widespread brutal torture of detainees by Iraqi troops - with some documents showing American authorities often turned a blind eye. The files also reveal that 66000 civilians were killed in Iraq since the US invaded - even though Washington had denied it kept any such record. The Pentagon's condemned what is the largest-ever leak of classified documents - saying it will only serve to help America's enemies.

Julian Assange, the founder of the whistle-blower website Wikileaks, has categorically denied Swedish sexual abuse charges launched against him. The country's prosecution authority has dropped an arrest warrant for a rape charge, but a separate molestation accusation is still under investigation. WikiLeaks has been criticised for leaking Afghan war documents. And despite warnings from the Pentagon, the website is preparing to release a fresh batch of classified documents. In an exlusive interview with Al Jazeera, Assange said that the accusations are part of a "smear campaign" against him. [August 22, 2010]
The Pentagon fears classified documents due to be released by WikiLeaks may be even more damaging than those that had been published before. The US military says it knows the nature of the additional 15000 documents that the website has pledged to disclose. Last month, it published over 90000 documents, creating a stir both with the public and US defence officials. RT gets more insight from John Young, a former WikiLeaks advisory board member.
