This one is a beautiful copyright fusion of an internet explorer logo and Apple iPad design elements. EPad by Shenzhen Zhuo Nisi Technology is running on an ARM Cortex A8 processor running at 1GHz, the OS is Windows CE with a funky iPad-like GUI layer on top. This 10 inch tablet does not come equipped with Bluetooth or 3G support although there is a Ethernet adapter in the box. Its available in China and I'm sure a few other Asian countries, if you order 100 pieces you'll they'll ship it to where ever you want, but it will run you about $140 a piece.

In late May 2010, Engadget.com had a posting about a 7 inch Windows CE v.6 tablet called the X10 MID priced at a mere $179.99. Having owned and used a Windows CE webpad (a Viewsonic Viewpad 100) several years ago, the Engadget.com posting piqued by interest and curiosity. So this is what Windows Compact Embedded 7 looks like! The unskinned version of WinCE7 looks basically quite a lot like WinCE6, but perhaps this new version of Windows CE has got some new optimizations to use ARM Cortex A8 and the more advanced hardware acceleration fully. And perhaps Windows CE 7 is meant to receive layers of customized user interfaces put on top of it, like Windows Phone Series 7 and like other potential UIs that partners of Microsoft surely are working on. Can this be considered an alternative to Windows 7 for ARM processors? I don't know. How much can it really do?
