April 13, 2010 Today in Brooklyn NY, the NYPD entered without a warrant 13 Thames Art Space, a Bushwick based art and performance space where members of the Independent Anarchist Media (I AM) Collective have been organizing the Fourth Annual NYC Anarchist Film Festival in honor of Brad Will. Two plainclothes detectives entered first, followed quickly by a Lieutenant and vans full of blue shirt officers. After corralling everyone present in the back room, they searched the space and detained two members of the collective. The I AM collective was preparing for the NYC Anarchist Film Festival, a showcase of resistance movements and insurrectionary events from around the world presented from an anarchist and anti-authoritarian perspective. Our response to the raid: regardless of these attacks, the film festival will happen as planned on Friday April 16, 2010 at Judson Memorial Church. 2009 Miami Book Fair: It is a joy to read. I hope this video encourages some of my fellow youtubers (especially those in the gaming community) to pick up a title of interest and start reading (not that many, if not most, aren't already doing so, of course). In this episode, I welcome you all to Downtown Miami, where one of the largest book fairs in the world takes place. It is held every year for the duration of three days (Fri-Sun) on the month of November. You will always find great deals on first editions/first printings, centuries-old tomes, recent releases and, even, that title you've always wanted in hardcover. From children's literature to adult's, virtually all books from every genre are sold at the fair for bargain prices. Well worth the admission fee, it costs $8.00 for adults (free for MDC students and, for all, on Friday--the first day). If you happen to be in Miami during mid-November, of any year, I encourage you to witness this event for at least one day. You will not regret it. A pool of multicultural activity, scrumptious cuisine from all over the world and, especially, a valuable source for all literature lovers, the Miami Book Fair is a dynamic, fruitful and truly enjoyable experience.
