www.beet.tv Justin.tv, the big San Francisco-based live Web video site continues to grow with an average of 32 hours of live video streamed and ingested into the system every minute to viewed instantly and for later viewing on demand, says Evan Solomon, head of marketing said in this interview. Solomon categorizes this amount of uploaded material "staggering." When we spoke earlier this year, he said that Justin.tv is ingesting more video on a minute-to-minute basis that YouTube. According to Nielsen, visitors to Justin.tv have far longer video viewing sessions that on YouTube. In this interview, he tells me that revenue is up and bandwidth costs for streaming continue to decline. This week, the state of live Web streaming could go through a big development if YouTube embraces live, as a YouTube spokesperson indicated in a blog post on Sunday . Andy Plesser

In this video, I review the Justin.TV iPhone app. This app allows one to view live video streams from the popular streaming site, justin.tv. I utilize justin.tv to do my high quality streaming and was happy to see an iPhone app finally come! There are great features to interact with your favorite justin.tv stream which includes a nifty chat bubble which updates as people talk in the chat. In this video, I give my thoughts on why I'm using Justin.TV to live stream over Ustream.TV. This is not a permanent move, but one that I did to continue to produce live video. I encountered several technical issues with Ustream which prevented production and prompted me to move to Justin.TV. I wrote about this on Bwana.org - u.nu - and you can read more about it there. Hopefully, Ustream will work out their issues and I'll be able to return, but for now, you can find me at justin.tv

At the posting of this, the suicide event is old news, although I intend to have it documented for historical purposes: 19-year-old Abraham Biggs of Pembroke Pines, Fla., was blogging on an online message board when he posted a link to Justin.tv, a live-streaming Web site where he had a camera rolling on him while he overdosed on prescription medication. ... 19-year-old Florida resident Abraham K. Biggs, who went by the screen names "CandyJunkie" and Mr Biggs, told users on a bodybuilding forum he would be committing suicide that night and invited them to watch the live video. The forum moderators allegedly ignored the post assuming it was a prank while other users posted insults and even egged him on. The teen used the "lifecasting" website Justin.tv designed to let users share the minutiae of their everyday lives to stream footage from his bedroom. Mr. Biggs was seen taking several pills before lying on the bed with his back to the camera. He didn't move, and users claim they realised it was serious a few hours later when they saw he wasn't breathing. Moderators then traced Biggs's location and informed authorities. The webcam was still streaming live footage of the teen's body as police entered the room. A laser-guided weapon was pointed at the body and an object was thrown at the bed. Authorities then appeared on the video as they approached the teen's body, checked for a pulse, and covered up the webcam. Biggss death was reportedly confirmed by the Broward County ...
