XTO Energy, which was bought by Exxon Mobil in June for $1 billion, launched tender offers to buy up to $2.69 million of debt. The company is offering to repurchase debt with about 6% interest rates that matures between 2036 and 2038. XTO Energy plans to pay a 0.65 percentage point above the yield of 30-year Treasuries as of 2 PM ET on July 26. In the company's last quarter as an independent company, XTO said that its Q1 profit fell 32% due to lower commodity prices.
Citigroup believes that the market has become too pessimistic on Exxon Mobil's (NYSE:XOM) acquisition and integration of natural gas company XTO Energy, which it acquired in June (announced in Dec. 2009). Citi also said that Exxon's stock implies a 50% discount on its upstream assets vs.private and public values for similar assets, a discount that is not sustainable. Citi reiterates its "Buy" rating on Exxon shares and $87 price target. Exxon Mobil iscurrently below its 50-day moving average (MA) of $62.01 and below its 200-day MA of $67.45. In the last five trading sessions, the 50-day MA has fallen 1.49% while the 200-day MA has slid 0.37%.
06/28/10 Exxon Mobil (XOM) announced Monday that it has officially completed its all-stock acquisition of XTO Energy.

After several Corinth residents refused to sign waivers for XTO Energy to drill in close proximity to their property, XTO Energy requested a waiver from the Texas Railroad commission. This is what the Corinth residents had to say about the gas drilling plans.
This is Lake Sharon in Corinth, TX. XTO Energy is trying to get a permit to drill right next to this lake. The company says they are going to use about a foot of water per well -- out of this lake. They say they can drill 'up to 20' wells on the proposed site. Residents who live on the lake are afraid the lake and its wildlife will be diminished.
