Yes are an English progressive rock band formed in London in 1968 and generally regarded as one of the archetypal bands of the genre. Despite a great many lineup changes, occasional splits within the group and the ever-changing trends in popular music, the band has continued on for over forty years and still retains a large following. The band's music blends symphonic and other 'classical' structures with their own brand of rock music, which is marked by sharp dynamic contrasts, extended song lengths, abstract lyrics, and a general showcasing of instrumental prowess. Although the band's sole consistent member has been bass player Chris Squire (noted for his highly melodic and discursive playing as well as his early use of electronic effects), Yes is also generally noted for the distinctive high-register vocals of lead singer Jon Anderson and the eclectic musical stylings of a succession of guitarists (Peter Banks, Steve Howe, Trevor Rabin, Billy Sherwood), keyboard players (Tony Kaye, Rick Wakeman, Patrick Moraz, Geoff Downes, Igor Khoroshev) and drummers (Bill Bruford and Alan White). Several band members became celebrated musicians and/or bandleaders in their own right, and a 1980 lineup of the band was briefly fronted by future production star Trevor Horn. ________________________________________ Toledo was just another good stop Along the good king's highway My fortification took me by surprise And hit me sending me sideways Spellbound - Roundly - Good for sunshine ...

Lyrics: (Anderson) Once a peaceful man laid his old head down by a river, Thought about his childhood life, his father and forgiver, Couldn't hide away, hide away. He controlled the horses with a handclap or a whisper, Drink he couldn't combat but he knew he was no sinner, Couldn't hide away, hide away. He told all his sons of all the antics of adventure, Then he told another one who drove himself to drink Not to hide away, hide away. Better men have realized alone is not a venture, A decent man would realize alone is not a venture, Just to hide away, hide away. He told all his sons of all the antics of adventure, Then he told another one who drove himself to drink Not to hide away, hide away. From Wikipedia: The Yes Album is the third album by British progressive rock band Yes. The first release to feature 24-year-old guitarist Steve Howe, the album was released on Atlantic Records in February 1971 in the UK, a month later in the United States. This was the album that finally set Yes' career alight, with the album reaching #4 in the UK and, eventually, #40 in the US, where it was a platinum seller. This was also the last Yes album for over twelve years to feature keyboardist Tony Kaye until his return in 1983's 90125. The Yes Album set the stage for the band's route to superstardom with Fragile and Close to the Edge. This was their first commercial success and, reportedly, it had to be or Atlantic was going to cut them loose. The album was recorded at an old farmhouse in ...

This collection gives one the rare insight to the evolution of a song such as the working versions of Owner of A Lonely Heart, Hold On and Changes. Love Will Find A Way was orginally presented to Stevie Nicks for her solo album, but eventually wound up on Big Generator. This album is a fascinating insight showing how Trevor developed his songs and demonstrate how much his presence influenced the sound of YES.

I've been a fan of this song since I was a kid. The beats themselves are fairly simple, but the polyrhythmic nature of the drums against the guitar really make it interesting and fun to play. Some of the phrasing in this song ended up being a lot easier once I wrote it all out. I used Toontrack Allaire Kit from the SDX Vol. 2 expansion into macbook pro, Motu Fastlane, Logic 8 and iMovie '08. *copyrighted materials used for education and scholarship only* Yes - "Our Song" From the 1983 release "90125" is the copyrighted property of it's owner(s).

From Wikipedia: "Yours Is No Disgrace" is the opening track of 1971 album The Yes Album by the British progressive rock band Yes. It is notable as the first song to feature Steve Howe on guitar. It is one of the band's best known early songs and is the first in which the band attempted to explore longer songs, which would come to be a vital attribute in Yes songs over the next decade on albums such as Close to the Edge, Tales from Topographic Oceans, and Relayer. The song, along with other album tracks "Starship Trooper" and "Perpetual Change", is an early example of a rock epic for its complex form and length. The song's composition had important contributions from all band members. It begins with the first sounds of Steve Howe's jagged, distorted guitar, followed by a powerful duet of Tony Kaye's warm organ and Chris Squire's growling bass, and then an a capella by Jon Anderson. From here on, all the members join together in an ensemble and the song grows in its complexity. The song is also notable for the use of the stereo tracks, most remarkably during Howe's intermediate guitar breaks. The Yes Album is the third album by British progressive rock band Yes. This one has been sitting on the shelf for a while waiting to be finished. Months, in fact. Anyway, the inspiration came to me last night after finishing "Fooling Yourself"; so here it is. Yes performing during the 90215 tour in Edmonton, Alberta. This terrific concert was filmed at the Northlands Coliseum near the end of their N. American tour & it is one of Yes' very best shows. Owner of a Lonely Heart reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 which to date, is Yes' biggest chart success by far. It also reached number one on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, the first & only time a Yes song ever reached this height. This was the first tour/album to feature newcomer & guitar virtuoso - Trevor Rabin who took over the guitar duties from Steve Howe. Newer fans loved him & older ones didn't but I for one, think he added alot of energy & much needed breath of fresh air to the group's sound. Besides that, he was a big part of the bands hugely successful multi-platinum album - 90125, which was mainly based on Trevor's earlier demo work. So his contributions to their rebirth & success were invaluable. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this concert as much as I do & feel free to comment on it anytime. Enjoy! Note: Sorry for the low audio. The dvd audio level was really low as well & I tried to compensate with my video software but that didn't help much so you'll just have to to crank it up to hear it the right way. I also removed the annoying video footage that the video creators inserted of the 50's family throughout the concert. Now you can see the concert the way it was meant to be seen. From NFTE.org ==================== I have been reading a lot of posts here about the origins of "Our Song". I have heard right from the mouth of Chris Squire that that song was written about Toledo Ohio. I was sitting in his Hotel room in TOLEDO when he told me. He also mentioned that Yes had the key to the city there as well as a few other Keys to cities. he explained that Toledo was a town that that risen through the work ethic etc. of the people and the song was based on that. I was very surprised at the knowledge of Toledo's history he had. More than I, but then again I am not FROM Toledo, so what WOULD I know? It is funny though that Chris Squire is the guy who told me probably more than I needed to know about the city

Please ignore the watermark (the scrolling grey text at the top)! Script for a Jester's Tear, the title track of Marillions 1983 debut album. Ushering in the genre of neo-prog, filling the void left by the prog big fours' wondering into pop, Marillion surface as the 80's version of Genesis, and I mean that as a compliment. Whilst Yes were making 90125, Pink Floyd had self-destructed, Genesis were now three and King Crimson had become a New Age band, these guys had the balls to keep on making prog. Albeit neo-prog, but still prog. Stereo thanks to helpful YouTubers.

A quick vid I made joining Thomas Kinkade's beautiful artwork with Trevor Rabin's modern-day classical composition. I've followed Rabin since his initial stint with Yes and the '90125' recording. I don't think I've ever heard anything from him I don't enjoy. Try 1989's 'Can't Look Away' solo album and you'll probably be hooked. This song was from the 'Jack Frost' soundtrack featuring Michael Keaton. I didn't see a rendition of it on YouTube so I figured I'd put it up for someone else to enjoy. So here it is...
Messin around with a cool Yes tune.
