bit.ly - At 9: 40 pm, our complimentary selection is on the Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks 'under' the total. Zach Duke made his long-awaited debut in an Arizona uniform in Houston last Saturday and what a debut it was. The veteran southpaw, who was supposed to be in the opening day rotation for the D-Backs but was set back by a broken hand during Spring training threw seven shutout innings against the Astros on his way to his first Arizona victory. And although nobody will confuse the Houston offense with the Philadelphia Phillies' or Louisvile Cardinals', Duke allowed only three hits and walked just one, looking like he was in mid-season form rather than coming off a prolonged layoff. Tonight he gets another weak lineup - albeit perhaps not as anemic as the Astros - as the Nationals come to town for Duke's debut in his new home. But a blow-out win for the D-Backs tonight may not come as easy as it did in Duke's debut as the Arizona hitters will have to face a starter who's pitched very well over the last month. Arizona Diamondbacks Sign The Nearly-Perfect Armando Galarraga By Jeremy Monroe (Contributor) on January 25, 2011 14 reads 0 comments 0 likes DETROIT - APRIL 10: Armando Galarraga #58 of the Detroit Tigers throws a fourth inning pitch while playing the Texas Rangers during Opening Day on April 10, 2009 at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan. Detroit won the game 15-2 .You may remember Galarraga from last year, as he was only one out away from a perfect game. But, in what may go down as one of the worst blown-calls in major league history, umpire Jim Joyce missed an obvious call that kept him a few feet away from a perfect game (literally). Galarraga has a career 23-26 record in 87 games thrown. Galarraga has the ability to strikeout batters and has 301 strikeouts in 475.1 innings. What he needs to limit if he wants to progress further in his career, is his ERA (an up and down 4.58 coming into this season). Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said, "Based on this guy's history and what he's done, he's got a fairly good shot of being in our rotation." In my opinion, anyone that shows up to the ballpark has a chance in the Diamondbacks' rotation. In the trade with the Tigers, the Diamondbacks got rid of two minor league pitchers, Kevin Eichorn and Ryan Robowski. Eichhorn recorded a 5-6 record in 15 minor league starts last season, while Robowski was 2-4 in 35 relief appearances in the minors last year. Let's hope Galarraga, as well as the rest of the Diamondbacks ...
