Introduction Early 2009 FABIO, Cycling out of poverty's partner, gave out the first bicycle ambulances in Katakwi district (for project details and video's have a look in the project archive @ www.cyclingoutofpoverty.com). These bicycle ambulances are saving lifes each week, but still villages are remaining which are too remote and have poor access to good health care. With the assistance of more bicycle ambulances in this area these villages can also get access to the medical care. The bicycle alone will also improve the mobility of health workers to visit patients more often. This will result into a higher amount of people being vaccinated and an improvement of HIV/AIDS information. Project objectives Main objective: To improve the access to medical facilities in former conflict area in North east Uganda. Sub objectives: 1. Reduce child mortality 2. Reduce maternal mortality 3. Reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS Project target group Some villages have been provided with a bicycle ambulance in spring 2009. In this follow-up project another 50 bicycle ambulances will be given out in 50 other remote villages to give them better access to medical care as well. Support Cycling out of poverty - www.cyclingoutofpoverty.com Support this project You can "adopt" this project.
