My first test with ZBrush, a great 3D modeling program. Growing up, I loved (and still do) messing around with clay/playdough so programs like these are right up my alley. As great as ZBrush is though, I'll be buying Autodesk Mudbox 2011 which is like ZBrush, except Mudbox is the cream of the crop for 3D digital sculpting. Please be sure to watch in HD if you can. Updates in this revision include new shaders for the Vest, Thighs, Gloves, Guns, and Visor. As well as a Orange Metal pass to for all the hard plating. Currently the gloves have a three shader composite of Black fabric, Low Specular segmenting, and Metal plating on knuckles & joints. Unfortunately those details are hard to see with just the current turntable. I will try to make some Higher res close up stills of notable areas. I also was able to incorporate a Depth pass that I am using to drive a soft focus lens effect. Definitely on track to achieving a final turntable that is similar to the last 5 seconds of the video. I am also doing some side research on 3D Printing, so those of you who would enjoy a statuette may have that opportunity. I used the After Effects plugin called Normality by Stefan Minning: www.minning.de And once more I would love to thank VenustasLuci for being so amazingly supportive and giving me little critiques. :) Note: It seems HTML5 does not play nice with the F4V Video format.
Added some shader variation to the sections of the Coat & pants. Also made a Cavity map to emphasize the scratches. I used the After Effects plugin called Normality by Stefan Minning: www.minning.de Which I used to light the character, combined with a shadow pass generated within After Effects. There is still a lot of work to be done. This is a little pipeline I put together combining a few tutorials I could find here and there on the web. This is by no means comprehensive and in all likelihood, a little too specific. The video shows you how I was able to take a model created in ZBrush, export it into Cinema 4D, create usable UVs, and re-import that back into ZBrush. Before you post a bunch of hate please recognize that I'm not any kind of pro at this stuff. This is in fact my first tutorial and I'm still very much in the learning stage of 3d modeling. my hope is that someone out there struggling to make sense of platform interoperability will find this useful, and then pass it on.
