This is for my 30 GB original zune. Pretty self explanatory. I was using it earlier and it froze up. So I turned it off and after that it didn't want to turn back on. I figured it was just because I've had it for four years and it was just getting old. But I didn't want to give up on it quite yet. Sooo I took it apart, hell if it was already broke before there wasn't anything I could do to make it worse. Zune is completely reading it on my computer and everything is fine, just the issue of it functioning as a whole. Also, don't bite my head off for touching or dismembering it if you actually know what to do. I probably am messing with things I shouldn't, and my incompetent female self can only do so much. But so far I haven't done too much damage. And yes, my camera is crap.

This is how I fixed my 30gb Zune (1st generation). It's not a frozen Zune like other people have experienced. It'll just restart over and over and it won't boot up. So replace the battery. I bought a replacement battery on ebay for $8. Hope this helps someone. Edit: Before buying the new battery, I first tried unplugging the original battery for 1 minute and then plugging it back in, in the hope that it would reset the zune, but that didn't work for me. These 1st generation zunes are so old that they need new batteries after many years of recharging and discharging after regular daily use. It seems that if the battery goes bad, then it won't allow the zune to boot up.
I actually saw how many people's Zune 30GB froze aka Z2K9 including my manager's, so I offered to fix it. Basically I found out that taking the Zune apart is not the answer it actually still boots up and freezes on the Zune load page.

Hello everybody! I need some help... I have a black zune 80, and let me try to explain my problem. Lately, my zune's got completely mad, as you can see on the video. When i turn it on, on the main menu, it starts scrolling up and down as if i was touching or scrubing the zune pad when im not, (it never stops until i touch the pad). Then if i touch the pad it stops, but if i try to use the zune pad normally, its all messed up and mixed: If i touch it up or hold it up, it appears as if it was touching the pad left If i touch it down or hold it down, the same, even if i press the center button, they al react as if i was holding left!! Therefore i cant reboot it (because even if i hold back+up the zune reacts as if i was holding back+left) If i shut it off, and turn it on again, we're back to the begining!, the main menu going up and down! I cant turn off the touch settings, bc i cant even reach the settings menu. Any idea or solution? suggestions! anything helps! thanks! :)
