Though "The Fall of the Roman Empire" (1964) is now infamous as the epic which destroyed the cinematic "empire" of producer Samuel Bronston, the film is actually an above-average historical drama, attempting to make sense of the political intrigues which resulted in the dissolution of the Glory That Was Rome.
http://amerikadimdaravi.blogspot.com/2008/07/blog-post_31.html The study of Roman history - the fall of the Republic and the Empire, gives us many insights what is going to happen to the present Democracies, if we don't learn anything from the history. This is a video presentation of my article in Kannada, in that retrospect. The article is at: http://amerikadimdaravi.blogspot.com/2008/07/blog-post_31.html
Anthony Mann is my new favorite director. Most of his films examine the exhausted hero. I re-edited the end of the film. It's a masterpiece of filmmaking. I can relate to its fall.

My tribute to the most organizate and powerfull army at the ancient time- The Roman army - The roman empire was the greatest empire on the europian continent! No empire in Europe attain the magnificent, power and glory as Roman empire., I used the clips from the Rome-HBO series, Gladiator, Attila the hun, Hanibal and documentary Rise and fall of the roman empire,
Increasingly, parallels are being drawn between the fall of the Roman Empire and the current American Empire. Yet as John W. Whitehead points out in this week's vodcast, we are not Rome—at least, not yet. Reminding Americans that it is still our prerogative to think and to act, Whitehead asks: Do we want a democracy or do we want an empire?
'Гибель Империи - Византийский Урок' Pravoslavie RU - English version, first minutes - No other empire in human history lasted as long as Byzantium -- it existed for 1123 years. In comparison: the great Roman Empire collapsed 800 years after its establishment; the Ottoman Empire fell apart after 500 years; the Chinese Qing Empire after 300 years. The Russian Empire lasted 200; the British 150; the Austro-Hungarian empire apx. 100 years. During its height, Byzantium was home to one sixth of the entire world population. The Empire stretched from Gibraltar to the Euphrates and Arabia. It encompassed the territories of modern Greece and Turkey, Israel and Egypt, Bulgaria, Serbia and Albania, Tunis, Algiers and Morocco, part of Italy, Spain and Portugal. There were around one thousand cities in Byzantium - nearly as many as in modern Russia. - http://snipurl.com/3vg2u - Film [71:11] here: http://snipurl.com/3vg62
Vates News http://vatesnews.blogspot.com The Fall of the Roman Empire is a 1964 epic film made by Samuel Bronston Productions and The Rank Organisation, and released by Paramount Pictures. It was directed by Anthony Mann and produced by Samuel Bronston with Jaime Prades and Michal Waszynski as associate producers. The screenplay was by Ben Barzman, Basilio Franchina and Philip Yordan. The cinematography was by Robert Krasker and the original music score by Dimitri Tiomkin. The historian Will Durant was engaged to advise on period detail and plot. The film starred Sophia Loren (Lucilla), Stephen Boyd (Livius), Alec Guinness (Marcus Aurelius), James Mason (Timonides), Christopher Plummer (Commodus), Mel Ferrer (Cleander), and Omar Sharif (Sohamus, King of Armenia) with Finlay Currie (Caecina), Anthony Quayle (Verulus), John Ireland (Ballomar), Eric Porter (Julianus), Andrew Keir (Polybius), Douglas Wilmer (Niger) and George Murcell (Victorinus). The film was a financial failure at the box-office. However, it is considered unusually intelligent and thoughtful for a film of the contemporary sword and sandal genre. Cast Sophia Loren ... Lucilla Stephen Boyd ... Livius Alec Guinness ... Marcus Aurelius James Mason ... Timonides Christopher Plummer ... Commodus Anthony Quayle ... Verulus John Ireland ... Ballomar Omar Sharif ... Sohamus Mel Ferrer ... Cleander Eric Porter ... Julianus Finlay Currie ... Senator Andrew Keir ... Polybius Douglas Wilmer ... Niger George Murcell ... Victorinus Norman Wooland ... Virgilianus It was envisioned that Charlton Heston would be cast as Livius, but ultimately Stephen Boyd, who played opposite to Heston in Ben-Hur got the part. It had been offerred to Kirk Douglas, who turned it down. Richard Harris was originally cast as Commodus, but he was replaced by Christopher Plummer. Harris would later play the role of Marcus Aurelius in the 2000 film Gladiator, which might be considered a remake of The Fall of the Roman Empire. Alec Guiness was cast as Emperor Marcus Aurelius, and during the production he became good friends with Sophia Loren. On an evening out Sophia persuaded Alec to dance "The Twist" with her, which he did for the first time in his life. On the flight to Spain Guiness was reading the script of the film when he was accosted by one of its authors. Guiness was asked if he was studying the lines, but he responded that he was rewriting the lines since he did not think much of them. Vates News http://vatesnews.blogspot.com

Rome in Madrid - Fall of the Roman Empire
Life of Tiberius Gracchus. Rome was once a largely democratic society, with regular elections. This Republic lasted for 500 years, but then came Tiberius Gracchus. He believed in the of the Republic - fairness, decency and justice for everyone -but was appalled by Rome's aristocrats' treatment of the poor. So he unleashed the power of the mob upon the streets of Rome, with devastating consequences.

The Eastern Roman Empire, Many consider Emperor Constantine I (reigned AD 306--337) to be the first "Byzantine Emperor". It was he who moved the imperial capital in 330 from Rome to Byzantium, refounded as Constantinople, or Nova Roma ("New Rome"). Constantine inaugurated his new capital, the process of hellenization and increasing Christianization was already under way. The Empire is generally considered to have ended after the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks in 1453, although Greek rule continued over areas of the Empire's territory for several more years, until the fall of Mystras in 1460 and Trebizond in 1461. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantine_Empire

zach and i discuss the fall of the roman empire. it is a joke.
My name is William Graydon, and I live in North Port, Florida. There have been comparisons drawn between the current state of U.S. World Affairs and the beginning stages of the Roman Empire collapse. My question is for the republican candidates....do they agree? How would they stop it, and how would they be able to do it better than a Democrat?
short video clip explaining why freemasonry and christianity are incompatible. the god of washington is not the God of the Bible.
The start of a documentary that im going to ake on the fall of Rome - might as well put my degree to use. If its fun I'll do it on other stuff as well.

http://tomorrowsworld.org/index.shtml Is the Roman Empire just a matter of ancient history? What could it possibly have to do with you, with your family, your job and your future. In the fall of 2004, a remarkable exhibition opened in a circus tent pitched right across from the European Union Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The theme of the exhibit was best captured by a banner that proclaimed "The New Roman Empire". This exhibition narrated 50 years of European Union history. And in the words of one prominent British newspaper, projects events into the future in an unusually frank display of European ambition. What does that really mean? And where is it headed? A presentation of the truth by John H. Ogwyn and the Living Church of God. As seen throughout the entire world on Tomorrow's World Program.
