Th Cuban Missile Crisis was an event that almost led to nuclear war. The U.S. had taken pictures over Cuba, and found out they were keeping missiles there. President JFK decided to blockade Cuba. Kennedy and Khrushchev negociated to have the missiles removed from Cuba if the U.S. removed their missiles from Turkey.
The Bay of Pigs invasion was U.S. failed attempt to overthrow the Cuban dictator, Fidel Castro. The U.S. sent in about 1300 troops to the Bay of pigs, Cuba. Most of the soldiers died in the battle, or captured and imprisoned.
