Soviet Union falls. Boris Yeltsin becomes the President of Russia. The Soviet Union fell because their economy failed. They were spending all their money on military and had no one to trade with.
The Berlin Wall is taken down. East and West Germany are reunited on October 3rd of 1990. George Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev reunited Germany
U.S. launches Apollo 11 into space. Neil Armstrong, Micheal Collin, and Buzz Aldrin were the first were the first people on the moon.
President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Texas on November 22 of 1963. He was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald, but there are many other theories on how he was assassinated.

U-2 spy planes have revealed that Soviet Union has armed Cuba with short ranged missile. The missiles which come hit the U.S in 5 minutes if fired were extremely dangerous. Kennedy had to come up with a solution to this problem. He had many options like a blockade, to attack Cuba, and to do nothing. He went with a blockade, and it worked the U.S avoided getting into a nuclear war with Cuba and the Soviet Union

The literal "Iron Curtain" dividing soviet east Berlin with democratic east Berlin. Tension between east Berlin and west Berlin was the main cause of the wall being built. Even though the wall was built 2000 people on the east side would flee to the west side.

After Cuba became communist and Castro took over the U.S. wanted to get rid of Castro. The U.S and the C.I.A began to train Cuban people to begin a uprising against Castro. They attacked Cuba thinking the Cuban people would help them, but they didn't. Hundred of people were killed, and many more were captured.
U.S. U-2 spy plane was shot down. The U-2 plane was taking pictures from 70,000 ft. of restricted Soviet territory. This event was a embarrassment for the U.S, because the U.S. said the plane wasn't a spy plane and the pilot was killed when the plane was shot down.Pilot Francis Gary Powers was actually captured.

The Soviet Union launches the world's first satellite. This event sparked the start of the space age. It also began the space for the U.S. and the Soviet Union
Hungarians in Budapest raise up against the Soviet power. They thought that the Americans would help them. The Americans ended up not helping them. It is estimated that over 30,000 people died. Hungary later leaves the warsaw pact on the 31st of October

A war fought between communist north Vietnam and non-communist south Vietnam. Vietnam was split at the 17th parallel. Vietnam was ruled by the French, but the Vietnamese fought back. North Vietnam wanted to be communist while south Vietnam did not want to be communist.

Communist North Korea invades South Korea. With the help of the Soviet Union and China they are able to almost take the whole Korean Peninsula. The U.S and allies help South Korea fight back to the Yalu River.
