3-The XYZ affair was a bribe costing 250,000 dollars to the United States government for them to talk to France. Amer wanted to talk to them becasue they wanted to obtain peace with France. Congress thought they should go to war and many Americans cried "millions for defense but not one cent for tribute". Meaning that they would spend millions for war but not one cent for a bribe from France.
2-In 1794 farmers hated there new tax on the whiskey. Many started a rebellion against the government but George Washington brought a group of soldiers to stop them and they all fled. This rebellion showed many people that the new government was serious and they wont let people just rebel against every new law.
4-The French Revolution was a rebelion of French people against their king. Many Americans thought they should become part of the war. Jefferson prepared for war but still wanted to obtain peace. The neutrality proclamation states that the United States can not take sides with any countries in Europe that were at war at that time.
5-The Alien and Sedition acts kept the French and other people from immigrating to the United States. The government thought this would keep the French from taking over the government. These laws also kept people from talking bad about the government, which took out the ruling of freedom of speech and many thought it was against the constitution.
1-George Washington was a leader in the Revolution and was the first president of the United States. Many think George Washington was the greatest president ever. This is because he had to start a new nation and deal with things like keeping the people happy and safe which was really hard in this new country
