Watson beats the scandal-plagued Waters in the Democratic primary for Portsmouth sheriff, then goes on to win the job.
Watson resigns from the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office after a disagreement with Sheriff Charlie Phelps
Watson cruises to a Democratic primary victory with about 66 percent of the vote, and later wins the general election without a Republican challenger.
Portsmouth Sheriff Gary Waters fires Watson from the sheriff’s office, citing “unprofessional conduct” that Waters won’t discuss.
